Rediscovering your identity after motherhood and how to reinvent yourself

Before becoming a mum I knew who I was; the only person I had to depend on was me – as some would say carefree. Though initially, excited about my new role, I didn’t expect the world around me to change as much as it did. As a young mum, the realisation didn’t hit me straight away it’s not until years after I became aware I was living more for my child and everyone else’s expectations and my own took a back burner. Although I accomplished goals of my own, the importance of putting myself first

How do you know you need to rediscover yourself?

You don’t do the activities you used to do before becoming a mum, or if you’re fortunate enough to have time to yourself, there are more variables to be aware of such as the frequency, timeframes and potential interruptions. I wouldn’t name the state depression, but a decline in happiness as though your life is missing something. Your daily routine is a bit robotic with kids, home, and work on repeat resulting in you believing you are only a mum – when you are an individual, first and foremost.

What is the purpose of rediscovering your identity?

Find out what you enjoy doing, and what you don’t. Take time to focus on your needs, and embrace self-care.

In what ways can you rediscover your identity?

To live long you have to look after yourself, ultimately love your body enough to think about the damage you’re causing to it

Total fitness is a concept broken down into different types of fitness components. These are:

  • Physical fitness
  • Nutritional Fitness
  • Mental and emotional fitness
  • Medical fitness
  • Spiritual fitness and
  • Social fitness

What YANA WELLNESS focuses on are the first three bullet points; physical, nutritional and mental fitness. To put it in simpler terms, we’ve broken it down into the following:

BODY + DE-CONTAMINATE = ENERGY

Understanding what you’re allowing to enter your body with the food you eat, what you drink. The physical aspect from the hobbies, bad habits you may undertake. Taking the time out to find out what ingredients are harmful in your food and drink, and removing them out of your diet.

Doing this will start to de-contaminate your body and the natural products you replace them with, will give you more release of energy. Bad habits you may have e.g drinking or smoking, giving them up and exercising will enable the release of toxins out of your body and give your organs a better chance of being less damaged.

MIND + DE-CLUTTER = ENVIRONMENT

Mastering how to decide what you’re watching on a screen, listening to, reading and the way you’re living at home and where you go. Thinking about what unnecessary and harmful information does not need to penetrate your mind and be around you, will allow your mind to de-clutter and give you a clearer mind and cleaner environment.

SOUL + DE-STRESS = ENLIGHTENMENT

Understanding the relationships you’re accepting around you. There’s a saying, you are most like the five people you interact with, but it doesn’t stop there. Being aware of the conversations you have with people. Are they positive or negative? Are they allowing you to become the better version of yourself or hindering your progress? Learning how to de-stress and improve your mindset will enlighten both your conscious and sub-conscious mind.

The notions above interlink with each other. What you eat and drink affects both your body and mind. Who you interact with affects your mind and soul. Fundamentally, all you see, hear and do affects your body, mind and soul, as they are connected.

To be deliberate in your actions, gives you the power to take better care of your body and also heal any damage caused by factors out of your control.

Concluding, the explanation you’ve read, sums up the YANA WELLNESS motto: Learn to love your body. Do this and you’re winning. Try our services and products and we’ve fulfilled our mission to provide positive resolutions for you to love yourself, grow and achieve.

Next Steps

Now give some thought to the present. How are you feeling? Do you have any limiting beliefs which are preventing you from moving forward to achieving a goal? Could be anything, write it down.
