Personal development is very important for us all if we want to improve various areas of our lives. It shows growth and progression.
On my site, I will show you how personal development has helped me and how it could possibly help you too. As it covers so much, I have categorised the topics that are relevant to my own experiences and knowledge.
Own Experience
Born into a family of high achievers, I felt the need to strive to maintain a high level of creativity. Achieving 1st place in the Sandvik WM competition at the age of 5 reflected that. I’ve been hard on myself in not crediting myself for my achievements. For me, achieving my best and trying to be the best, instead of enjoying the journey.
Amongst my professional accomplishments, studying business management and management principles assisted me greatly. It began by assessing my role as a manager producing PDP’s (personal development plans) and regularly doing evaluations.
Included in my daily routine to aid with my personal growth are:
- Reading a variety of books
- Listening to audio-books on Audible
- Meditating
- Exercising
- End of day self-assessments
How to start
In order to change you do have to reflect on every aspect of your life and be honest with yourself.
A scientist called Maslow created a ‘Hierarchy of Needs.’ It identifies that an individual’s needs can develop through a process called self-actualisation.
Posts are divided into categories on this site; parental, career, well-being and relationships. They will give you some support in the areas Maslow mentioned. For instance, my post on how to change bad habits will assist one element.
I produced a 3 R process which I used for my book, ‘ A Woman’s Worth?’ to break up the story.
1st R: Revelation – What is the problem? What happened?
2nd R: Reflection – What led to the problem? Were there any signs before the action / event occurred?
3rd R: Resolution – How could you resolve the problem? How could you prevent a repeat action / event in the future?
